What kind of books can kids, teens and adults read if they want to get into reading?
We should recommend kids to start reading fiction books as soon as they learn how to read, as that’s when their minds fully start to grow. As soon as they start reading, you’ll see them getting smarter. We should try to avoid giving kids books that’ll be difficult for them to understand. They will get the time to explore their love for reading if they start slow and easy.
I‘d recommend letting them read books such as Goosebumps by R.L. Stine if they’re feeling brave. It is the books of R.L Stine that made me an avid reader. The best part about his books were that they kept me thoroughly entertained, I didn’t require games or TV to spend my time. But if you think they’ll like reading something that’s not very scary, I recommend The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. This series is funny, wacky and interesting. Even an adult can read this and enjoy it. But most importantly, let the kids choose what they want to read first.
Now about my favorite genre, the Young Adult books. As teenagers, we are always confused about almost everything, even when it comes to choosing our favorite artist from a music band. But as we grow older we either sort these things out, or simply never grow up. Either way, If you are a new reader, there’s one book I’m never confused about suggesting, and that’s The Harry Potter series. It doesn’t matter if you’re a girl or a boy, you’ll love this either way. Especially if you’re a boy and you cringe at the word ‘romance’ in almost everything, and also the book ’Gargantis‘ by Thomas Taylor. If you’re someone who loves reading everything cute and fluffy, I suggest reading ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ by Jenny Han, ‘When Dimple Met Rishi‘ by Sandhya Menon, ‘Girl Online’ by Zoe Sugg, ‘A Very Large Expanse of Sea’ by Tahereh Mafi &/or ‘Eleanor and Park’ by Rainbow Rowell. I can assure you that you’ll end up loving these books immensely, in fact it might end up in your ‘favorite books’ list!
Now comes the books parents can read. Firstly, parents can read the books that their kids read, so they can discuss about its stories with them and I think you know this more than me that discussing about the topics that both the parents and children understand are the best conversations you can ever have together. Other than that, you can read ‘The Hate You Give’ by Angie Thomas, ‘ or you can also read ‘Finding Audrey’. Personally I‘d prefer you to read the latter option first, as it will give you an insight to your children’s mind. Like what they think about you, why they do for what they do, etc. It’s hilarious as well, so that’s a plus!
And now for the adults who sometimes like fluffy books and sometimes like sophistication, I’d prefer you read these books, ‘The Traveling Cat Chronicles’ by Hiro Arikawa, ‘Beauty Mark: A Verse Novel of Marilyn Monroe‘ by Carole Boston Weatherford, ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak, ‘A Man Called Ove’ by Fredrik Backman or any book by Cecelia Ahern!
